Because the fastest way to a community's heart is through its stomach.

This summer, Citizens4Community (C4C) is launching the “Land of 1000 Picnics” micro-grant program. The premise is simple – sharing a meal with neighbors is a powerful way to build community connection, resiliency, and belonging. And in increasingly polarized times, that feels more important than ever.

With support from Ford Family Foundation, we’re offering up to $150 per event for community members and groups to host neighborhood gatherings.

The rules are simple:

1. The event must take place in “Sisters Country.”

2. For whatever area you choose (e.g. a block or neighborhood), you have to invite everyone.

3. You pick the format – block party, potluck, BYO picnic, etc. Just make it fun and inclusive!

4. Funds can pay for food, park permits, invitations, or any other event expenses.

5. After the event, send us a quick report and some photos.

Sound easy? That’s the idea. Apply for funding below. We’ll review applications weekly, prioritizing neighborhoods that don’t already have funds available for social gatherings.
