In the News: Local Film Highlights Faith in the Ultimate Strength of Our Community

[Note: Please Let’s think about (and do) what we each can do to support our local small businesses.]

In case you missed it when it aired recently on Central Oregon Daily News…

Enjoy this video, “Sisters Strong,” by talented local filmmaker Cody Rheault. The piece features insight from Sisters small-business people who are suffering under the shadow of Covid-19 but are nevertheless hopeful.

Those interviewed are: Lane Jacobson, owner of Paulina Springs Books (and a C4C board member); Jim Cornelius, editor of The Nugget Newspaper; Jared Durham of Sisters Coffee Company; Wayne Underwood of Three Creeks Brewing; and Drew Kaza of Sisters Movie House.

The 5-minute feature piece is filled with thoughtful observations, including:

• “It’s tricky…You want to keep your employees and customers safe, but you also want to keep everybody employed…just trying to walk that line.”

• “Social distancing is maybe the wrong term; it should be physical distancing. But our social interactions are still so important, just from that space of being able to say, “Hey, I see you; and here’s a cup of coffee. Have a good day.”

• “We’ve got to support each other any way we can. We’ll get through it; there’s going to be an end to this thing.”

• “I think we’ll come back hopefully stronger than ever, and I think Sisters will look out for itself. Folks around here will get behind everybody.”

• “We are all together in this thing.”

Indeed, we are all together in this. and the vitality of Sisters’ small businesses is crucial to our community’s well-being.

So, after watching this video, here’s a question for us all to be thinking about:

Now or in the coming weeks, what can each of us in Sisters be doing to support our local small businesses?
