If you’ve been reading the pages of the Nugget recently, you probably know the City of Sisters just inked a new contract with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO). We now have our own team of police officers dedicated to serving Sisters.

It’s a great time to engage and learn more, so RSVP now to join the next Let’s Talk! discussion, set to begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16 (held via Zoom). During the approximately 90-minute session, we’ll be highlighting the new contract; and you’ll have an opportunity to talk with the seasoned officers tapped to work specifically in the Sisters unit.

At this Let’s Talk!, you’ll hear about the experiences and principles that inspire the officers and guide their approach to public safety. You’ll hear from unit members, which include deputies Allie DeMars, Mike Hudson and Bryan Morris as well as their unit leader Lt. Chad Davis—a 25-year DCSO officer and Sisters resident who also had experiences working collaboratively with the former Sisters Police Department before it disbanded.

Likewise, Sisters City Manager Cory Misley will share what prompted the new contract, and he and Lt. Davis will discuss what it means for our community, including how it increases service levels and patrol presence.

Additionally, says Lt. Davis, the contract means local residents will have more opportunity to become very familiar with the officers patrolling Sisters. The new team is focused on a taking a collaborative, community policing approach to public safety. It’s an approach based on building relationships and trust, Davis notes.

At C4C we’re all about local collaboration and civic (as well as civil) engagement. We want to help foster the positive local conversations and relationships that will lead to increased safety for residents and visitors.

So we hope you will sign up for this Let's Talk! There are a limited number of seats available on Nov. 16, so please RSVP soon (by clicking on the link below or the link at the top of this article).

We also are looking into offering a Spanish-language version of this talk on a parallel Zoom room/channel (which would be offered simultaneously as the English-language version happens). If you prefer to participate in Spanish, please let us know when you RSVP.
