Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how we work, play, learn, communicate, and make sense of the world around us. What do those changes mean for a community like Sisters?
To explore this question more deeply, Citizens4Community (C4C) is excited to launch a new 4-part conversation series.
“AI And...” will explore how AI is shaping various aspects of everyday life, with a particular focus on the opportunities, challenges, impacts, and questions emerging at the local level. Each conversation will bring together experts and community members to examine a different dimension of AI and consider what these changes could mean for Sisters Country.
Our series will begin on Wednesday, September 23rd with AI And...Trust & Information.
Hosted at The Hub, and also available via livestream on our YouTube channel, this free “fireside chat” will feature two local AI experts exploring one of the technology’s most immediate impacts – our changing information environment. Through conversation with one another and attendees, they’ll explore questions like:
As AI makes it easier to create, alter, personalize, and distribute information at unprecedented scale, how do we determine what and whom to trust?
How might AI affect our ability to distinguish reliable information from misinformation, understand complex issues, and develop a shared sense of what is true?
How might that affect trust in local institutions, news and information sources, and even one another?
What personal and collective rights and responsibilities do we have in an increasingly AI-shaped information landscape? Are there skills, norms, and practices we can develop to help maintain agency and navigate this fraught space?
AI And... is a series designed for curious community members, not technology experts. No prior knowledge of AI is needed, just an interest in understanding how a rapidly evolving technology may affect our lives and our community. Come early for complimentary refreshments and a chance to peruse our “AI Primer” resources!
Attendance is free, but registration is required.
