The saying goes:
“You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes.”
Well, let’s put that saying to the test!
This month, we’re adding a twist to our “Let’s Talk” event series. Instead of a sit-down discussion, we’ll be pairing up and walking a mile (or other agreed upon distance) together around downtown Sisters.
We’ll meet at Fir Street Park. C4C will provide the matchmaking, walking routes, and some questions to get the conversation started; all you need is your walking shoes and an open mind! After our walks are completed, you’re invited to re-convene, share learnings, and continue communing over a drink or food at The Barn next door.
Our hope is that this event will be an opportunity for all of us to:
Practice active listening and respectful dialogue
Gain insight into the diversity of lived experiences here in Sisters Country
Experiment with finding common ground across divides
Expand our local social circles
We hope to see you there!
P.S. Don’t worry, we won’t ask you to actually switch shoes with your walking partner. :)
