Want to help build a more connected community? Join C4C’s Board of Directors!

Citizens4Community is currently accepting applications for our Board of Directors. Anyone age 16 or older who lives or works in Sisters Country is welcome to apply.

About C4C and Our Board

If you join our board, you might have to occasionally dress up in festive garb and costumes.

Citizens4Community (C4C) is a nonpartisan nonprofit with a mission to foster a connected community in and around Sisters, Oregon by encouraging civility, collaboration and civic engagement. Founded in 2016, we’re working to build a vibrant, resilient rural community where everyone thrives and feels they belong. We produce numerous events, programs, and spaces that bring people together across differences, strengthen local relationships, support grassroots community building, and create opportunities for residents to take a more active role in community life.

Behind that work is a Board of Directors made up of local residents who help steward our mission, strategy, resources, and relationships. As a “working board,” members do more than just attend monthly meetings and provide strategic and fiduciary oversight; they also serve as organizational ambassadors, advisors, fundraisers, connectors, and partners to our Executive Director.

Committing to board service at C4C requires a willingness to participate in regular events, support annual donor drives, take part in strategic planning retreats, and help ensure the organization remains collaborative, inclusive, transparent, and nonpartisan. It also means having fun and getting to do things that make the community you care about a better place for everyone!

A standard board term at C4C is three years, and members typically contribute 5-10 hours per month toward board and committee meetings, public events, planning sessions, and community engagement.

Who We’re Looking For

Did we mention we like to have fun?

We want our board to reflect the community we serve, and we welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds. No prior board service is required to apply, although evidence of past community service and engagement – either in Sisters Country or another community where you’ve lived or worked – is viewed favorably.

This year, we are particularly interested in bringing on board members who offer experience in areas such as fundraising, financial management, human resources, impact measurement, nonprofit leadership, and working with underrepresented communities. We’re also eager to find well-networked board members who can serve as liaisons to wide-ranging local groups, agencies, and demographic sectors.

Beyond professional skills, we hope to broaden the range of lived experiences and perspectives represented around our board table. That includes ideological and political diversity, younger adults, parents and caregivers, bilingual community members, and others who may bring perspectives we don’t currently have.

Applications are due by October 1st at 11:59 PM. After reviewing all applications, we will invite several applicants to meet individually with board members and our Executive Director. Following these interviews, we will conduct reference checks before extending an offer to one or two applicants. Board service for new members will begin at our January 2027 board meeting.

No musical experience is required to join the C4C board…but it doesn’t hurt, either!
