Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how we work, play, learn, communicate, and make sense of the world around us. What do those changes mean for a community like Sisters?
To explore this question more deeply, Citizens4Community (C4C) has launched a new 4-part conversation series.
“AI And...” explores how AI is shaping various aspects of everyday life, with a particular focus on the opportunities, challenges, impacts, and questions emerging at the local level. Each conversation will bring together experts and community members to examine a different dimension of AI and consider what these changes could mean for Sisters Country.
Our series continues on Thursday, November 5th with AI And...Work.
Hosted at The Hub, and also available via livestream on our YouTube channel, this free “fireside chat” will feature three local experts exploring how AI is changing the way we work, with a particular focus on small businesses and organizations.
Through conversation with one another and attendees, they’ll explore questions like:
Where are the “low-hanging fruit” opportunities for small businesses and organizations to use AI effectively today?
How can businesses help employees build AI skills and adopt new tools without constantly chasing the latest technology?
Is AI actually saving us time and reducing workloads, or simply changing the kind of work we do?
How might customers respond as more businesses use AI in their products, services, communications, and customer interactions?
What are the less obvious costs, risks, and responsibilities that come with integrating AI into the workplace, including privacy, governance, and liability concerns?
As AI takes on more tasks once performed by people, what happens to jobs, human expertise, creativity, and the value we place on human interaction?
Featuring Mark Gross of Jalana Labs, Taylor Rhoades of Nomadd Marketing, and Samhir Vasdev of Dev Design, the conversation will look beyond both the hype and the fear to consider a more practical question: How can we use AI thoughtfully while preserving the distinctly human qualities that make our work – and community – valuable?
AI And... is a series designed for curious community members, not technology experts. No prior knowledge of AI is needed, just an interest in understanding how a rapidly evolving technology may affect our lives and our community. Come early for complimentary refreshments and a chance to peruse our “AI Primer” resources!
Attendance is free, but registration is required.
