AI And...Youth

  • The Hub, by Citizens4Community 291 E Main Ave Sisters, OR, 97759 United States (map)

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how we work, play, learn, communicate, and make sense of the world around us. What do those changes mean for a community like Sisters?

To explore this question more deeply, Citizens4Community (C4C) has launched a new 4-part conversation series.

“AI And...” explores how AI is shaping various aspects of everyday life, with a particular focus on the opportunities, challenges, impacts, and questions emerging at the local level. Each conversation will bring together experts and community members to examine a different dimension of AI and consider what these changes could mean for Sisters Country.

Our series continues on Tuesday, November 17th with AI And...Youth.

Hosted at The Hub, and also available via livestream on our YouTube channel, this free “fireside chat” will feature two regional experts exploring how AI is impacting youth – including their social lives, mental health, education, and more.

Through conversation with one another and attendees, they’ll explore questions like:

  • What do we know, and what don't we know, about how AI is affecting youth development – including critical thinking, creativity, mental health, and relationships?

  • How are schools and families navigating the rise of AI?

  • What skills will young people need to thrive in an AI-powered world?

  • What safeguards should parents, educators, and community leaders be implementing to balance AI literacy with youth safety and accountability?

  • How can parents, educators, and community leaders work together to ensure AI helps young people flourish rather than holding them back?

Featuring Victor Villegas from OSU Extension and Ami Formica from Well Wired, the conversation will look beyond both the hype and the fear to consider a more practical question: How can we prepare and protect young people in a world increasingly shaped by AI?

AI And... is a series designed for curious community members, not technology experts. No prior knowledge of AI is needed, just an interest in understanding how a rapidly evolving technology may affect our lives and our community. Come early for complimentary refreshments and a chance to peruse our “AI Primer” resources!

Attendance is free, but registration is required.
