This Month, You Can Give the Gift of Greater Understanding...

…ON 'GIVING TUESDAY’ (DEC. 1) OR AS A UNIQUE HOLIDAY GIFT IN HONOR OF SOMEONE ELSE

Nov. 16, 2020 was an important day for Citizens4Community. That was the day of our monthly Let's Talk! event, which focused on the City's new contract with the Sheriff's Office. We also met our local deputies personally. (You can view that Zoom program HERE>>).

But something else—though not easily visible in the video—gave November's Let's Talk! added significance. ...In a Let's Talk! first, the entire program took place simultaneously in BOTH English AND Spanish.

Thanks to a generous anonymous donation to C4C, and funding from St. Charles Health Systems, we were able to upgrade our Zoom tech capabilities and bring in two professional interpreters.

Now, we’re hoping you will join us in making that "first" a regular way of doing things in Sisters Country—not only for C4C, but also for other organizations who might want to expand their reach.

So, we’ve established a dedicated fund for local interpretation/translation services. And we're asking for your support and donations as we help Sisters acquire new tools and resources to eliminate local language barriers.

We hope you’ll consider making a donation either on Giving Tuesday (Dec. 1) or sometime else during the month of December—perhaps as a special gift in honor of someone you care about.

C4C shares with St. Charles a belief that a more connected community leads to a healthier community. Likewise, we're a partner in implementing the Sisters Country Vision and we’re leading partners for a couple locally prioritized Vision strategies. Those strategies seek to build neighbor-to-neighbor connections, break down barriers and create an ever more welcoming and vibrant Sisters Country.

In short, C4C is committed to helping all voices be heard. We want everyone to be able to bring their talents and insights to the table in order to prosper Sisters and our local neighbors.

The new interpretation/translation fund will allow more members of our community to understand and participate in important community meetings. And that's just the beginning.

…Future possibilities are numerous. Along with important meetings, think: bilingual cooking courses, storytelling and other cultural exchange opportunities, like community-led language-learning classes... It's exciting; and we hope you'll join us as we look to pursue the possibilities.

Grant funding will help cover some translation costs; but there's much more we’d love to do with your help, especially as Covid makes connecting with others so important. Also, we've learned a lot about Zoom interpretation technology, and we're willing and eager to help other local organizations gain and use that service, too.

Any donation size is welcome and appreciated. Simply click on the button below to learn more and visit our Go Fund Me donation page.

Or, if you prefer to send a donation via check, please send it to: Citizens4Community, PO Box 2193, Sisters, OR 97759.

(Your donation will go directly to a dedicated fund to provide interpretation and translation services for C4C and other local community-building organizations, so the community can work toward offering a host of new opportunities and new programs.)
