Join us as we celebrate the heartbeat of Sisters with a community-wide, free Rhythm and Song event 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, July 19 in Village Green Park.
Bring family and friends, young and old. The event begins with a free community picnic dinner in the park at 5:30.
The interactive music begins at 6 p.m. Rhythm instruments will be provided, or you may bring your own!
Festivities will be led by Jodi Winnwalker of Earthtones Northwest. This all-community event is being presented by Citizens4Community in partnership with Sisters Park & Recreation District (SPRD) and Melvin's by Newport Avenue Market in Sisters.
An impressive and diverse (and growing) lineup of community musicians will help deliver the program--entertaining and helping to deliver the facilitated rhythm activities.
Those musicians include: music therapist Maggie Johnson, who will offer rhythm games and song; Katie Cavanaugh, with Native American woodwind offerings; Cameron & Tee, on gongs; Shannon Mokuahi Rackowski, showcasing traditional Hawaiian Instruments; and Kirk Olsen, introducing the audience-participants to the African Guitar.
Village Green park is located between S. Fir and S. Elm streets at E. Jefferson Ave.
