Learn what local resources are available to help senior residents of Sisters Country “age in place.”
This winter, Citizens4Community is partnering with Serving Our Seniors (SOS) – an action team of Age-Friendly Sisters Country (AFSC) – to spotlight the state of our community’s senior residents. This collaboration is the next step in an eight-month effort to better understand what older adults in Sisters need to age well in place, and what resources already exist to support them.
Since mid-2025, the SOS team has gathered data around the state of local seniors, hosted listening sessions, researched successful programs in other communities, and met with regional service providers. Their work has helped identify both strengths and gaps in our local support network, and the findings are being shared through a series of articles being published in The Nugget this January and February:
Aging in place in Sisters (1/6/2026)
Community needs for seniors to age in place (1/13/2026)
Organizations provide senior services (1/20/2026)
On February 17, community members are invited to attend the SOS/C4C Senior Resource Fair, featuring 20+ organizations offering support for seniors in Sisters Country.
This is a chance to learn what local resources are currently available for seniors, connect directly with providers that are helping seniors live safely, independently, and with dignity, and get to know the people behind these impactful programs.
The fair will be followed by a Community Forum on March 8, where participants will hear from regional thought leaders and then actively engage in small-group dialogue around solutions to unmet needs for local seniors. On topics like non-medical transportation and affordable housing, home maintenance and resource coordination, attendees will have the opportunity to collaboratively explore and help shape what we can do to make Sisters Country a healthy and supportive place in which to age.
This event is free and open to the public. Complimentary interpretation and rideshare coordination are also available upon request (email us here).
