Serving Our Seniors: A Community Forum

  • Sisters Elementary School 2155 McKinney Butte Rd Sisters, OR, 97759 United States (map)

Seniors make up nearly 40 percent of Sisters Country residents. What do they need to truly age in place?

Over the past six months, local volunteer group “SOS: Serving Our Seniors” – an action team of Age-Friendly Sisters Country – has been conducting research and hosting listening sessions with our community’s older residents. Their goals – to understand the state of our seniors; identify existing resources and services available to them; and pinpoint gaps in the local continuum of care needed to help residents remain in their homes and this community as they age.

With that research now complete, and building on our February 17 Senior Resource Fair, C4C and The Nugget Newspaper are teaming up with SOS for our latest Community Forum.

Join us on Sunday, March 8th for an action-oriented community conversation exploring how we can work together to better serve older adults in our community.

Featuring local leaders and experts from across the country, we’ll dig into SOS’ data, hear inspiring stories of impactful services and programs, then roll up our sleeves in small groups to explore realistic, community-driven solutions that could work for seniors here in Sisters.

Our hope is that attendees leave with the inspiration, connections, and tactical plans needed to catalyze new initiatives supporting local seniors. As with all our Forums, we’re also developing resource guides and follow-on events that will help community members maintain momentum on this critical topic.

This community event is free, open to the public, and accessible both in-person and online via YouTube live-stream. The forum will be held in the Sisters Elementary School commons, with light refreshments provided. Free on-site childcare is provided, and other accessibility services are available (details below).
