How can we help older residents of Sisters Country age in place?
Share your thoughts in this new community survey.
Over the past few years, C4C and many of our partners have observed growing challenges for older residents of Sisters Country. A rising cost of living, continued lack of medical facilities, changes to Medicare and Medicaid, loss of a local assisted living home, and other changes are making it increasingly difficult for elderly members of our community to “age in place.” Without intervention, many individuals who hoped to spend the rest of their life in Sisters may need to consider other options.
In response, community members are taking action: Serving Our Seniors (SOS) is a newly formed small group of local residents attempting to understand and address the needs of seniors who may need additional support to remain living in their own homes as they age. Through research, interviews with thought leaders, surveys, listening sessions, and other avenues, they aim to form a fuller picture of how the community can best support our seniors.
C4C is eager to support this important initiative. As a start, we’re helping get the word out about SOS’ inaugural project – a community survey targeted toward elderly residents of Sisters, their partners, caregivers, and children.
The survey aims to assess current challenges, needs, and desires of local seniors hoping to age in place. Next spring, we’ll dig into the results, speak with experts, and explore solutions our first 2026 Community Forum.
We appreciate the community’s help in sharing this important initiative! You can expect to hear from us, the Nugget, and other partners about additional informational opportunities and listening sessions from SOS in the near future. Subscribe to our newsletter for updates.
