Citizens4Community invites you to participate in our monthly "Let's Talk" discussion series. In July we'll be looking at the topic of the importance of local media in small town communities. Nugget Newspaper editor and manager Jim Cornelius has offered to serve as a guest to provide helpful information for an informed discussion. The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. July 15 in the Community Room of the Sisters Library (entrance on south side of building).

Newspapers across the country are struggling financially as people seek their news through social media. Some people have stopped reading newspapers altogether, believing that the news is filled with drama to create interest, and that the facts are no longer the priority for reporting. However, newspapers in small and rural communities continue to thrive in some locations. Why is that? What is the role of the media in small communities? Can they fuel incivility? Can they build community?

Let's Talk discussions provide a moderated forum for people to share their views and opinions. Participants recommend the topics for discussion.

The events are free, but registration is required. Seats are available on a first-come basis. Please sign up soon to reserve your place at the discussion table.
