WHAT DO YOU WANT SISTERS TO LOOK LIKE IN 20 YEARS?
As the City launches the update of Sisters’ Comprehensive Plan, we’re inviting you to help shape that plan and share your thoughts about local growth. Join a collaborative discussion with city leaders during the next Let's Talk!—set for 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19 (via Zoom video-conference).
You'll get to hear from and speak with City of Sisters Community Development staff members:
• Scott Woodford, Community Development Director
• Nicole Mardell, Principal Planner; and
• Emme Shoup, Community Engagement Assistant
The Comprehensive Plan update process will establish a set of goals and policies that guide how Sisters will grow and develop during the next 20 years. Issues such as housing needs and economic opportunities will be among those addressed.
Residents’ input is critical; and this Let’s Talk! is among the first opportunities you’ll have to share your thoughts. (The City will offer various opportunities to provide input over the next many months.)
Along with seeking your feedback, on Oct. 19 City planners also will offer valuable information about local growth and the Comprehensive Plan update.

In the lead-up to C4C’s spring Community Forum focused on housing affordability, we invite you to dive deeper into this timely issue – one that stretches far beyond the borders of Sisters Country. Join C4C and Paulina Springs Books for a discussion of Golden Gates: The Housing Crisis and a Reckoning for the American Dream. (RSVP requested).
Citizens4Community (C4C) is partnering with SAGE’s Citizen Project to host a cross-partisan workshop for Sisters Country. The event will offer community members a chance to learn about civil discourse best practices while thoughtfully debating the tradeoffs inherent in different policy positions.
We’re all going to die; why don’t we ever talk about it? Join C4C plus several local caregivers and “death doulas” as we discuss one of society’s most taboo topics.
We’re excited to bring back a C4C fan-favorite – our Let’s Sing community singalong! This year, we’re adding a seasonal twist to this popular event – come celebrate the winter solstice and spread some cheer at our free, family-friendly holiday singalong.
C4C is proud to partner with Oregon Humanities to bring their Conversation Project series – and multi-talented regional artist Jason Michael Graham, a.k.a. MOsley WOtta – to Sisters Country this November. This FREE workshop at The Belfry will investigate the relevance of making art during times of personal, communal, or global crisis. We’re excited to announce another FREE and impactful workshop with Scott Crabtree, C4C Board Member and Chief Happiness Officer at Happy Brain Science! This workshop will help you collaborate better by more candidly conducting difficult conversations.
We’re continuing to experiment with adaptations of our traditional “Let’s Talk” event series. This month, we invite you to PLAY with us – it’s game night at Paulina Springs Books!
This month, we’re adding a twist to our “Let’s Talk” event series. Instead of a sit-down discussion, we’ll be pairing up and walking a mile (or other agreed upon distance) together around downtown Sisters.
Citizens4Community invites Sisters Country to ring in the new year with a robust, Let’s Talk! panel discussion 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18.
This Let’s Talk! will explore the idea of “social capital” and how it relates to the health and welfare of communities, especially rural communities like Sisters.
Diverse perspectives are welcome as we discuss ways Sisters Country does (or can) come together to identify and pursue common goals, despite any differences that could divide the community. READ MORE…
If you’ve been reading the pages of the Nugget recently, you probably know the City of Sisters just inked a new contract with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO). We now have our own team of police officers dedicated to serving Sisters.
It’s a great time to engage and learn more, so RSVP now to join the next Let’s Talk! discussion, set to begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16 (held via Zoom). During the approximately 90-minute session, we’ll be highlighting the new contract; and you’ll have an opportunity to talk with the seasoned officers tapped to work specifically in the Sisters unit.

Please join us for a focus on our local schools during COVID-19—the fourth topic in a series of recent Let’s Talk discussions examining the pandemic’s impact on the local community. The Sept. 21 event will feature leaders from the school district, including:
• Curtiss Scholl, Superintendent, Sisters School District
• Jay Wilkins, Chair, Sisters School Board
Participants will have an opportunity to hear from local education leaders as they share government requirements for in-person learning and their personal plans and priorities for educating our local youth during the pandemic.
In July, we’re inviting the community to continue a discussion begun at February’s Let’s Talk!, where participants examined ways in which Sisters Country may or may not be welcoming. The conversation will address this issue in light of race-focused protests and civil unrest that have made headlines for more than a month.
Plans are to host this July 20 Let’s Talk! via Zoom video-conferencing. Community members with diverse perspectives are invited to join us for a robust but respectful facilitated conversation.

Federal, state and local governments order social-distancing. Schools, churches, public spaces and businesses are closed. Many lose their jobs and security. Meanwhile, others face grueling work hours. Amid these struggles, a man is tragically killed in a confrontation with police and a wave of demonstrations ensues.
You are invited to join C4C for our monthly Let's Talk! discussion. This month we will again host this opportunity to connect as a community via Zoom video-conferencing.
On Thursday, May 21 we'll spend about 90 minutes (6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) with area business and economic development experts and we’ll hear the area’s latest economic impact reports. We’ll learn about COVID-19-focused programs and resources that are helping Sisters and Central Oregon businesses and employees.

C4C is changing up how we do things, given the current Covid-19 situation. We’ve said from the day we launched our website back in 2015 that, “We’re All in This Together.” And that’s especially true now. …
…So we’re hosting a virtual Sisters Country-wide “Let’s Connect as Community” event via Zoom on our regular Let’s Talk night—the 3rd Monday of each month.

Citizens4Community invites you to participate in our monthly "Let's Talk" small-format discussion series. In December we'll be looking at the topic of Affordable Housing in Sisters, where we will be joined by Patrick Davenport, Community Development Director for the City of Sisters, who can help give us insight about past and current local affordable housing efforts as well as future plans. The discussion will be co-moderated by professional facilitators Chris Laing and Terry Buchholz. Stephen King will lead the Let’s Talk warm-up session.
C4C’s “Let’s Talk, Sisters” small-format discussion series was in October wrapped into the larger, Community-Wide Conversation on Freedom of Speech. But in November, Let’s Talk will be back to its normal time and place—the 3rd Monday (Nov. 18) of each month at Paulina Springs Books. The topic will focus on recreational gun use on public lands.
Citizens4Community invites you to participate in our monthly "Let's Talk" discussion series. In July we'll be looking at the topic of the importance of local media in small town communities. Nugget Newspaper editor and manager Jim Cornelius has offered to serve as a guest to provide helpful information for an informed discussion.
